The Bible is often trying to remind its readers that it really is important how you spend you life. All too often, we spend much of our life building up things that will only come down with time... but Jesus invites us to make some eternal investments.

King Solomon understood the reality of mortality. In light of the fact that all of us will someday die, he offers a few "takes" on life.

When we realize how short life really is, we begin to wonder how we can make the most out of life. Moses teaches us (in Psalm 90) to count our days so that our days might truly count.

As Paul finishes his first letter to Timothy, he deals with a particular difficult subject... the love of money.

Paul often talks about how the church is like a family. In 1 Timothy 5, he tells Timothy that when dealing with the family, respect is the key.

So often, we have let age determine whether or not someone can do something... but in the kingdom of God, age holds little sway.

Every congregation is going to be organized somehow... But a few things need to be understood. Paul's instructions to Timothy give us a pretty good view of leadership in the church family.

In 1 Timothy 2, Paul talks specifically to the women in how they are to learn and act in the church.

In 1 Timothy 2, Pauls gives some instruction about the importance of prayer. And in so doing, he shows that it is a truly holy thing to approach God in prayer.

Several times, Paul tells Timothy to "fight the good fight". What does he mean?

In Ephesus, Timothy faced an issue that could split the church... So Paul writes him a letter to encourage and give advice on how to lead well. His first subject to bring up... the problem with legalism.

Many people consider Christianity pretty foolish. But Paul (in 1 Corinthians) makes the case that being a "fool for Christ" is actually great wisdom.

James 4:10 says "Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up." This Mother's Day we want honor our moms who often exemplify humility. We also want to commit our lives to following the humble example of Jesus Christ.

In the USA, we value and promote freedom so much but do we understand what freedom really is? Scripture talks about a strange paradox of having freedom through slavery. How can this be.

In our world, no one wants to be considered weak. But in 2 Corinthians 12:10 Paul says that "when I am weak, then I am strong." What does Paul mean by that?

We are so used to thinking that we have to work to get anything that when we hear Jesus say "Give, and it will be given to you", it almost doesn't make sense. What is it that we receive through our giving?

Jesus offers rest for those of us who are weary and carry heavy burdens. I'm sure you qualify... but how does Jesus offer this rest?

Scripture talks about joy and rejoicing quite often... but it never equates our joy to our circumstances. Maybe that is for a good reason.
