Oftentimes we find it much easier to be critical of others than to be thankful for them. Faced with a world of opposition, the Apostle Paul knew that his original hearers needed a word of encouragement - and we too are called to be agents of encouragement to each other. Join us as we explore how these opening words both encourage us and inspire us to seek ways to encourage others!

Understanding the significance of what is said or done in a given moment is often based on understanding the context in which it is said or done. As we commence our study of this encouraging book, we begin by considering the Biblical account of the founding of the church to which it was originally addressed. Join us as we explore the background to Paul’s first epistle to the Thessalonians!

As we come to the end of our study of Nahum we learn that God acknowledges the gritty reality of life in a fallen world, complete with the very messy damage caused by sinful actions. We conclude our study reflecting on how this word of judgment against evil is meant to comfort believers. Join us as we meditate on what it means for us that God is our avenger!

In this vivid chapter the fall of Nineveh is presented as if it is occurring before our eyes. Join us as we reflect on this somber passage to discover significant implications for how we understand human wickedness in its various forms, the propensity we have to normalize it, and the horrifying consequences of it.

In today’s passage we are invited to rejoice at the good news of the coming end of evil, and in light of the sure word of evil’s annihilation we are called to faithfulness in our ongoing devotion to God. Join us as we consider God’s word to the wicked, and God’s word to the righteous!

Admittedly, the opening words of Nahum present an awesome and terrifying picture of the Lord. Yet far from being depicting a spiteful and vindictive deity, this passage reflects God’s patient and unrelenting commitment to his glory and the good of his people. Join us as we consider God’s unchanging character and what that means for us!

Join us as we conclude our Advent series by considering the great and wondrous gifts given to us by God. As we transition to a new year, God’s gifts to us are a source of encouragement and hope.

What do you give to somebody who has everything? Join us as we explore faulty reasons for giving to God, the basis of what makes a gift acceptable to God, as well as some suggestions of what we can offer to God.

Christmas affords us many opportunities for spiritual reflection and growth, but Satan gets in the “gift giving mood” in his attempt to distract and derail us from receiving the good that could be ours in this holiday. Reconciliation, the restoration of right relationship between two or more persons, is predicated upon forgiveness. Though we are commanded to forgive, few things are more difficult for us to do. The doctrine of limited atonement, or particular redemption, is one of the most controversial doctrines of the Faith. However, properly understood it is one of the loveliest and most comforting truths God has revealed to us in Scripture. Join us as we explore the Bible’s teaching that in accordance with the will of the Father, the Son came and accomplished the redemption of all whom the Father had given him, and learn why this enables us to truly say, “Jesus died for me!"

Few doctrines elicit the degree of emotional response as does the doctrine of predestination. This doctrine is a litmus test, of sorts, revealing our deepest commitments and priorities. Do we operate out of a fundamentally human-centered mindset, or do we recognize God’s prerogative to be God?
