This week at Christian Chapel we talked about building a future on foundation. The best way we do that is by applying the Word of God and raising up the next generation in our church. As we examine 1 Timothy 4:12-16, we see that the responsibility to empower the next generation falls on both the next generation themselves and the older generation going before them.

Through Jesus we are connected to God and to other believers. However, we must overcome all kinds of challenges to experience unity with others. In Acts 21:17-36 we find a model for pursuing unity with other believers. Unity requires mutual respect, humility, proactive wisdom, sacrifice and always includes an element of risk.

Acts 21 provides a model for discerning God’s direction where there is tension between believers over the proper course of action.

In Acts 20, Paul describes two types of leaders in the church: shepherds and wolves. These descriptions give us tools to evaluate our hearts and our approach to spiritual leadership.

In Acts 20:13-24, Paul’s life and ministry show us a few important characteristics of our lives when we are led by the Spirit.

The local church is the heartbeat of Christ created to be His mouthpiece to the world. Commonly called the body of Christ, the local church in Romans 12:3-8 is admonished to serve with humility, teamwork and from their strengths. Pastor Chris Godfrey drives home the message that every person is gifted from God to be a part and to do fulfill their calling iin the body of Christ.

In John 11, Jesus calls Lazarus by name. It’s a statement of relationship, resurrection, and power.

We live in a world that honors dishonor. Yet if we are going to experience the blessings of God, we must learn to place great value on the things that are precious to Him. In this message, you will learn practical ways to honor God. When you do, His promise is to honor you.

Acts 20:1-6 shows us how we can move forward after a tumultuous season of life.

When the good news of Jesus shows up in a community it disrupts the lives of those who accept it and those who reject it. (Acts 19:23-41)

When God’s supernatural power is on display in the world it is often accepted, sometimes rejected, and occasionally counterfeited.

Genuine faith helps us grow as folllowers of Jesus and be an effective witness to those around us. When we surrender to the working of the Holy Spirit in our lives, He can transform us from the inside so that our outward actions reflect someone who walks with Jesus.

Pentecost Sunday is a reminder that the Holy Spirit is real and transformational. Acts 19:1-7 teaches us that this power is a gift, is for everyone, and is supernatural.

To fulfill God’s calling on our lives we must embrace humility and cooperation while learning from and sharing with others.

God can use your everyday conversations to build bridges from culture to Christ.
