    Police have spent the night patrolling the scene of two fatal stabbings at a birthday party in Gisborne on Saturday. Two people were killed, three are in hospital and one person has been arrested after a mass brawl involving 100 people broke out at a house on Lytton Road in Elgin. Officers have been present at Gisborne Hospital managing access in and out of the emergency department. Police Minister Mark Mitchell spoke to Corin Dann.

    The deadline is nearly up for Donald Trump to come up with a bond of nearly half-a-billion-US dollars to appeal a civil fraud case. Trump is seeking to overturn a New York court finding that he owes millions in potential lost interest by the banks that loaned him money, and from the profits of his sale of his New York golf course and Washington DC hotel. The former president must either pay the full amount in cash or secure a bond to avoid having assets seized. Earlier, his lawyers said that despite their "diligent efforts" it had been "practically impossible" to find a company willing to act as a guarantor of the full sum, but now Trump says he's raised more than enough money. Washington DC correspondent Simon Marks spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss.
