With lifted hands, blessing his Apostles, Christ ascends as our Great High Priest and King of the universe. He ever lives to make intercession as part of the continuing mission of God, the restoration of all things. He is able to sympathize (Gk. "to suffer with") as the risen, ascended God-Man. He can groan as the Spirit groans over the brokenness of the world. We believe that Chirst groans over the killing of the children of Uvalde, Texas, the innocent victims of Buffalo and the rest of the suffering of the world. He told Saul in Acts 9 that he was persecuting Christ himself. As we pray for the suffering ones of this present, evil age, know that we join with Christ who ever lives to intercede for us and the restoration of all things. This is our God!
