Today Pastor Phil works his way through the Gospel of John Chapter 16 in his message entitled, "The Joy of Answered Prayer". It's just hours before The Cross, and Jesus had just told His disciples that He would be going away. Jesus hadn't always spoken to His disciples in plain language, but often got His point across with illustrations and parables. He tells them in today's verses that He will now speak directly to them, and it's on the subject of prayer, and they could ask of The Father, in His name. Of course that's tempered with only asking for those things which would be within His will. In their day, if it were in the flesh it might be for fancy sandals or carts or oxen — in our day, some ask for fancy cars and large houses. No, our prayers must be aligned with His will
