Understand the difference between being an advisor in someone's life and being an authority in their life.  Remember that an authority figure can be friendly but is rarely a friend and that a friend can be authoritative but can not be an authority figure.  When these simple rules are broken it reveals or even creates the dreaded control freak.  Listen and you'll see what we mean.
