Informações:

Synopsis

On Wednesday July 17, host Pam Marvin spoke with James Adams, theology teacher at St. Joseph Catholic High School in Bryan,Texas, about spiritual discipline. An article from Art of Manliness says that, “Spiritual disciplines are habits, practices and experiences that are designed to develop, grow and strengthen certain qualities of spirit to build the muscles of one’s character.” As human beings we are inclined to evil because of concupiscence, our inheritance of original sin.  How can we expect to grow in virtue if we don’t have a certain type of discipline to overcome these effects? James and Pam talk about how discipline creates the space for God to make us better. It allows room for God to work in our hearts. Discipline may not be pleasant or fun, but it is good and it allows us to become free in a true sense, i.e. becoming more of what God created us to be. They discussed different types of spiritual disciplines along with real-life examples and experiences of them. If you want to learn more about spirit
