Episode 35: People sometimes say, “the world doesn’t revolve around you” but in Gordyland’s case, it does because he has created his own. Raised on the southside suburbs of Minneapolis, he had two passions growing up: skateboarding and playing music. In his early years he wasn’t tempted to try alcohol or drugs because he and his friends were focused, they were selling CD’s out of their lockers and packing 400-500 people at shows for their band. With a three month tour starting just four days after he graduated high school, he broke the news to his father he wouldn’t be going to college and was hitting the road to tour the country. After traveling for 2.5 years, and gaining traction with the designs he had done for not only his band but others, he found himself sitting in a classroom at Minneapolis College of Art and Design wanting to become great and was locked in.
