My 16-year-old daughter received her first summons to the army. It sent me into a place of shock. And fear. And concern. And aversion. And so many other emotions. By getting myself unstuck from this emotionally challenging situation, I was able to come to the other side with new perspectives that helped me feel better in that moment. When I was stuck in shock, I was predicting the future. I got myself unstuck by considering that I cannot predict the future.
