First, GE Aviation has launched a Configuration Data Exchange for the aviation industry, working in partnership with Capgemini, for which Michael is affiliated. This exchange aims to drive asset productivity and maintenance optimization across the aviation ecosystem, which in turn will have knock on benefits for the passenger experience. Michael explains why, as more aircraft data is moved across any channel – on the ground or in-flight – operators need to know how to process the data and make it meaningful. Next, satellite operator Iridium is hotly anticipating the launch of its NEXT generation constellation in a couple of weeks. It believes NEXT will “lead the way” in helping airlines meet the Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety System mandates outlined by ICAO.
