Aaron Freiwald, Managing Partner of Freiwald Law and host of the weekly podcast, Good Law | Bad Law, is joined by Elizabeth Burch, a law professor at the University of Georgia, to discuss the federal court procedure, Multidistrict Litigation (MDL), and her new book on the subject, “Mass Tort Deals: Backroom Bargaining in Multidistrict Litigation." MDLs refer to a special legal process that coordinates large numbers of federal court cases, sometimes hundreds or even thousands of cases, involving the same product and combines them, in theory for coordination and efficiency. In practice, however, there can be serious that can arise, especially from the perspective of the claimants.
