In John 10:22-42, Jesus finds himself totally surrounded by his opponents. They demand, “If you really are the Christ, tell us plainly” (v24). Jesus’ straight-forward response sets into motion a chain of plans for his eventual crucifixion. At the same time his reply gives those who believe in him the most comforting of assurances.
