Professor Edwards and Jack suspect that it is the work of a local witch doctor. Lorna is attacked by a white python. They kill the python; which is sacred to some local tribes. Almost within reach of camp Jack and Lorna are attacked by lions. Native message drums continually pound; passing the expeditions movements to tribes ahead of them."
