So many variables in culture are naturally in place to cause us to be divided. We are split up by race, gender, class, age, marital status, life stage, church denomination, neighborhood, city, state, country…heck, even our sports teams divide us. Left to our own devices, we will always find ways to be separatistic. That is why it took something (someone) outside of ourselves to be the tie that binds us together.
