This violent time occurred at the hands of a self-righteous man of East Anglia. Under the guidance of Matthew Hopkins, at least 300 accused witches were executed for supposed crimes. He was the authority on witchcraft in the region, and had a taste for cruelty. His self-appointed title: Witchfinder General.
