Before turning to mystery writing Parnell Hall had several other careers. He was a stage and screen actor, a singer/songwriter, a screenwriter, and a private investigator. We talk about his days as a PI being the jumping off point for a great writing career spanning 4 decades. His first book, Detective, was nominated for the Edgar and Shamus awards.We talk about how fictional detectives can inspire aspiring investigators.
