Two Girls, One Murder

Second installment - we're talking about the final victim, apprehension and whether people feel justice was done. This story is the manifestation of what we logically know: killers are hiding among us. It doesn't make it any easier for people to prepare for a case like this. When Paul Bernado and Karla Homolka met in the 80s, it was love at first sight. They were attractive, they were intelligent, they were well liked. They would also go on to take the lives of children to satisfy their urges. Police in Scarborough, Ontario struggled to catch this pair and bring them to justice, but it was difficult with such an unusual pair of killers. Our special guest in this episode is Lil's mom, Shannan. Growing up in the Scarborough area at the time, she was kind enough to talk to us about how the community felt and reacted to these crimes.
