The lines between private and syndicated debt markets, large and small, are gradually blurring and eroding. And the geographical distinctions are not far behind. Cross-border syndication has seen US style documentation and structure become the norm in European loans, and direct lending and syndicated markets are seeing further seepage across products. Joelle Jefferis sits down with Robin Doumar, Managing Partner at Park Square. From his vantage as a cross-border fund manager which invests across the capital structure, Robin discusses the ongoing trends in syndicated markets, his thoughts on why secondary trading is on the brink of a shock and why SME lending in the lower mid market is not offering good value for money for direct lenders.
