God is with us : in all things. In all things : God is with us. ...Christ our Hope. The promise of hope does not shield us from the reality of disappointment. Jeremiah speaks of a prophecy that has been fulfilled in Jesus and yet we know that our world is far from perfect. Many people who believed Christ to be the Messiah were disappointed when he eventually died at the hands of the Roman empire. Part of truly experiencing Advent is knowing that God is with us both in our hope and in our disappointment. Jesus is Emmanuel in full, not in part.
