She founded Kickante, a crowdfunding site that has become a leader in Brazil. “Brazil’s economy is struggling, and traditional venture capital is not available for companies and organizations to fund companies and projects,” Candice says. “Crowdfunding is new in Brazil, and also Brazilians are not accustomed to asking others for money to fund projects. Because traditional funding measures have dried up, lots of startups and NGOs need capital to do what they need to do. This also includes individuals, like artists and musicians.
