Part 3 - WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF INTERMITTENT FASTING? That’s a good question. When I first heard about this type of diet I thought it was complete BS! Let’s think about this logically first. Back in our ancestral days, we didn’t have access to a fridge or a bowl of oats as soon as we woke up. We had to hunt and kill our food or go foraging for it. We could go days and weeks before we got food again, which meant the times we did get food we would eat a lot because we never knew when our next meal would be. Evolution got clever and when we didn’t eat for long periods of time we learnt to tap into our bodies stored fuel sources (fats and carbs), which would give us energy in times when we couldn’t eat. Do you think our bodies would start burning muscle as soon as we didn’t have food for three hours? If that were the case, you and I wouldn’t be alive right now.
