This Sunday, we continue our journey through Mark’s Gospel as we explore the trial and Death of Jesus. Although Jesus appears to be the one on trial before Pilate, Mark reveals that everyone else is actually being exposed. As Pilate, the chief priests, and the soldiers each respond to Jesus, we see the contrast between the kingdom of self-preservation and the Kingdom of God; a kingdom revealed through Christ’s silence, His suffering, and ultimately the cross. Together, we’ll consider what it truly means to recognize Jesus as King and wrestle with the question that confronts every one of us: Do we try to fit Jesus into our own story, or will we surrender our lives to become part of His?
