Small Scale: Big Change | Designing Beyond Architecture

Informações:

Synopsis

Imagine a neighborhood, community or city that you've visited or lived in. In this neighborhood, you've noticed areas for improvement on a variety of scales: the need for better access to healthcare or healthy food, or smaller needs like improved lighting at bus stops or street corners. How many times have you wanted someone to address these issues? Participants attending the 2014 HKS Mid-Atlantic Design Fellowship were asked to think beyond the traditional definition of their respective design fields in order to help create socially sensitive temporary/micro-interventions. Lisa Goldsmith, associate AIA, and Heidi Swift, associate AIA, with HKS, Inc. discussed the nature of the design prompt and facilitate a conversation about how design tools can be used to empower and enable a community.
