The late-night host shamefully accused Republicans of using the death to “score political points.” While the network’s move appears to be a result of Kimmel’s comments coupled with poor ratings, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr suggested his department could potentially investigate ABC/Disney over Kimmel’s vitriolic remarks—muddying the waters. Many have expressed concern that Carr’s warning amounts to a First Amendment violation.
