In this episode, Safiya Mukhamadova introduces to me the so-called 'Alt-Right', just days before they would gain infamy as the mass of people that marched with torches in Charlotesville, USA. This "surplus value of a society that has the privilege to talk about such things" (obsessions of race, gender, purity, ethnicity, etc...), both the 'alt-Right' and the Regressive Left (Black Lives Matter, Feminist Frequency etc...)have become firecrackers at the end of each wing of the political spectrum. However, the conventional conception of 'Left & Right' as two ends on a horizontal line spectrum may need to be re-thought-- as a horse-shoe (which I clearly have a hard time remembering what that shape is.)
