Previously, Maia worked as Editorial Director and News Director at BrainPOP and as an editor and reporter for several national science magazines and websites. Maia is a guest blogger on cultural aspects of women in the STEM fields at Scientific American. She is the creator of the Women of NASA LEGO set, a finalist in the LEGO Ideas contest with a chance for worldwide production; Scitweeps, a photography project depicting scientists and science popularizers as minifigures; and the Legal Justice League, an original LEGO project depicting the first four female justices of the U.S. Supreme Court.
