Language Learning and Dementia

Informações:

Synopsis

In the United States, researchers are on a mission to prevent or delay cognitive impairment in Americans. One approach to warding off dementia? Learning a second language. Evidence shows that bilingualism protects the brain: in bilinguists, certain types of dementia show up five years later than in monolinguists. Today, we're exploring efforts in science and academics to reduce dementia diagnoses. Later, we'll check in with Mal Vincent and find out what's going on this week in Mal's World.
