191: The Discomfort Zone. 50 Miles with Clay Speakman

Synopsis

Inspiring yourself and inspiring others are two challenging things to do. Inspiration, different then motivation lasts longer. Motivation is like taking a shower, you need to do it daily for it to work!  Inspiration makes you search for greatness and doesn't let you quit.  So this past Monday, I saw a post from a friend on Facebook saying that he was 90 doing a 50-mile run, an ultramarathon. After seeing that, I told him sure I think I'll run with you.  After all the motto of his company Elevate OCR is "embrace the suck". Five days later, at 7:30 in the morning, we met at the beginning of what our course would be for the day.  We had a two and a half mile loop that we would run in one direction, come back to the same spot then turn around and run it in the other direction to equal 5 miles. The goal is to do 10, 5-mile loops in 12 hours or less to equal 50 miles.
