For each of the 7 "I Am" Statements Jesus demonstrates that he really is who he says he is. All throughout Jesus ministry, he has been shepherding. He has been feeding the flock, healing the flock, guiding the flock and protecting the flock and in this account, he has just went after a "lost sheep" (The blind man of John Ch. 9) and brought him into the fold. He will ultimately lay his life down for the flock when he goes to the cross, thus proving that he is indeed the Good Shepherd.
