The prophecy of Emmanuel was given during a time of civil divide in the Nation of Israel. This was a promise from God to his people that their only hope would be Emmanuel. No other government including their own would ever last. All the shoulders of every other leader would not be able to carry a righteous, just, and peaceful government on their shoulders. They would all ultimately buckle under corruption. Their only Hope would be Jesus- it's the same for us today!
