Speaker: Kris MacQueenThe third Sunday of advent is an invitation to reflect on Joy. Joy is kind of a big deal in the Scriptures. It's also kind of a big deal in life. Can we get good at joy? Is there a way to practice it or is it simply an emotional response to an encounter with something good? Do you have enough joy in your life or do you think you could use some more?The book of Nehemiah contains this often quoted phrase: "The joy of the Lord is your strength".  Some of us have heard this said with all the nuance of a bumper sticker. What does it really mean? The author of Hebrews speaks of how the joy Jesus anticipated empowered him to endure the cross. Powerful, challenging stuff.Could joy be the super-power of the Church?
