Jesus is Lord. What does it mean?

Informações:

Synopsis

What does it mean when we say "Jesus is Lord"?Romans 10:8b-9“The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. What do we mean when we call Jesus "Lord"? Is it simply part of our name for God? In what ways does that connect with the Hebrew understanding of the word LORD - used as a substitute for "YHWH" because they dared not even utter the name of God? Or is it more in keeping with the meaning that was widely understood in New Testament times, particularly in Roman Empire, when "Caesar is Lord" was a common place declaration throughout the Empire? How does the declaration "Jesus is Lord" equate with being saved? We're going to take some time over the next while to dig into this idea of Jesus as Lord and what that means for us right now, in our day.
