We got to catch up with him about the season 1 spin off series of the film with the same name, the importance of an equitable writers room, shooting in Oakland, filming  during a pandemic, power structures on set, and working in choreography into a television dramedy.  Plus we talk about the cast which is phenomenal...HELLO, Helen Hunt is a goddamn cast member - DUH.It's been cool to see how one of our favorite films about Oakland and the Bay get to see a longer shelf life and turn itself into an episodic series to reach more folks.
