Christine talks with Susanne Rodriquez about two topics that rarely get addressed in resources for pastors’ wives: bi-vocational ministry and closing a church plant. Susanne and her husband planted a church in New Jersey around 2014, reaching an immigrant population in their neighborhood. Just before Covid hit, they made the difficult decision to close the church. In this conversation, Susanne shares about the tensions for her and her husband as he pastored bi-vocationally and what she learned about how to support and help and sometimes challenge her husband during that time. She gives voice to the church planting wife’s experience, like knowing the fine line of when to press for what you need from your husband and when to wait, entrusting yourself to the Lord.
