He came across this character by the name of Hercules Mulligan. This lead him to an out of print biography about Hercules Mulligan. This is where the inspiration to make the libation came about. This spirit is a nod to one of George Washington's spies during the revolution. They are interpretations of what may have been served in his Manhattan tailor shop.
