In Late April 1945 the Third Reich’s days were numbered. Key members of the Nazi party including Adolf Hitler himself retreated to the heavily fortified underground facility known as The Führerbunker. It would be here that the World’s most infamous man at the time would end his life, or so official reports claim. According to Hitler’s last will and testament, instead of letting the Soviets defile his body upon capture, his lieutenants were to burn his and Eva Braun’s body and place them in an unassuming shell crater. Fortunately for the Allies, the ruse was ineffective and the Soviets reported recovering Hitler’s body and confirming his identity. Although later it would seem the Soviets walked back their statement and cast doubt as to whether the body they had recovered was actually Adolf Hitler.
