Changing Your Limiting and Core Beliefs Can you? And should you? And How? Can beliefs be changed even if it's a core belief? The simple answer to that is a big fat yes - if it no longer serves you or you find it not to be true. A silly example is of a person who, in the past, used to 'be' a smoker but has stopped. In the past, they believed they were a smoker and now they believe they are not. I've put the be in ''marks for a reason, because their belief would have been "I am A smoker" describing who they are at an identity level by their behavior, which is what so many of us do but it isn't who we are, it's what we do, it's not our identity. Remember the last FMQ about labels? Have a listen if you haven't already and you will see how the labels we are given become our beliefs too. When working with clients I find nearly all have a core belief such as 'I'm not good enough' or 'I'm not worthy' and it affects all that they do and feel. When they disappear BOOM!
