The Panthers were down 2 early in the 3rd period and got two quick goal 2:19 apart(Barkov, then Lomberg) early in the 3rd period, but the game being tied didn't last for long as Carolina got two goals of their own in a span of 21 seconds. After the first Empty net goal by Shane Gostisbehere to make it 5-2, the Panthers made a charge making this game closer than what the final score indicated when Duclair got his first goal since 2/28 in Tampa Bay and Carter Verhaeghe scored goal number 42, but too little too late when Carolina scored the empty netter to clinch the Panthers Wild Card 2 in the East.
