She held a joint academic-clinical position, Wayne State University, College of Nursing, Detroit, MI, and the Detroit Medical Center. In 1991, her clinical career and her research became focused on wound care especially in persons who injected street drugs. She received NIH funding, gave many presentations, and published many papers in refereed journals. She was a Fulbright Scholar in Trinidad and Tobago, 2020.
