Mid-days With Lauree

I can say this with confidence. Somewhere along the way, we've all failed. But it doesn't make you failure. We've all made mistakes, sometimes some pretty big ones. But that doesn't make you a mistake.

Sometimes the greatest act of faith looks like us remaining faithful exactly where we are!

If this is happening in your life, today is a great day to ask God to help you break this habit. Nothing good comes from the comparison game, for better or for worse, neither honor God and neither will make you happy!

Could there be anything more wonderful than being called a friend of God? We are, it says so in Psalm 25:14 "The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant." YOU are known as a friend of God today!

I've been walking though a pretty tough time with a close friend right now who's experienced a loss and I've come to the understanding that I need to trust God with other people. God loves our friends more than we do and will care for them better than we think we can. Let's not forget Jesus is the savior, not us.

My friend, Rebecca, from Morning's with Rebecca and Burns is a legit bible scholar. She knows the language and the translations but I think there's something I know that Rebecca doesn't!

For those of you who have been following along with Doug's family updates, The Hannah's are expecting a new grand baby. In the latest update, baby Claire may be making here arrival sooner than expected!

Some call it our inner critic, others say it's the enemy trying to gain a foothold. Regardless, that inner voice isn't a healthy one and doesn't speak truth. That voice says all the work is up to us and if we fall short, we've failed and our worth is lost. But I'm here to tell you today the one true God has done all the work. There's nothing to be earned and even when we do fall short, there's grace.

Here's the thing about prayer. Sometimes prayer changes our current situation, sometimes it doesn't right away. Our prayer may or may not change other people, but God always uses it to change us. Prayer is always worth our while.

We did our goodbyes on Friday, but it didn't really hit me till yesterday that my friend Lauree has moved on to her next radio chapter. I missing her today and you know what? That's okay.

Despite our perceived limitations, what do you think it is that God sees in us?

There's nothing like getting a parenting tip from someone who isn't a parent, but Lauree may be on to something here!

These days, there's not always something we'd recommend you watch on TV, but I think we found something that will absolutely be down your alley if your a fan of Billy Graham.

Lauree is in her last week at KCBI and as the time winds down, there has been a lot of emotion is preparing to say goodbye. Some of that emotion has come in the form of crying over a bookcase but after you hear the reason, it's not as crazy as it sounds.

The bible is filled with parables, but there is only one that mentions someone by name: The Rich Man and Lazarus. At the time, society only knew of the rich man and Lazarus was considered a nobody. But today, we know the name of Lazarus and know nothing of the rich man. Jesus loves to humanize the overlooked and dignify the disadvantaged. Maybe you feel unseen but take heart. Jesus knows you. You are famous in your father's eyes.

On Friday, Lauree teased a big announcement and the news is finally here.

If looking in the mirror makes you feel embarrassed or ashamed of choices that you've made, we've got some good news for you.Sometimes life and the choices that we make out of fleshly desires lead us to those places where we look at ourselves in the mirror and we start believing about ourselves and our worth. About how ashamed we should be, about how God could never love us. I'm here to tell you right now that is a big, fat LIE.Here is the truth: the enemy wants to define you by your wounds. But Jesus wants to define you by his wounds. That difference changes everything. That's good news.

I don't know if this has been your experience, but in my experience, the idea of being someone who wears their "heart on their sleeve" has been perceived as a negative thing. But I want to let you know today that it's okay to vulnerable and that God loves you the way that you are, not the way the ought to be. Lets be patient with each other. No one extends grace better than God, so let give it shot and extend grace.

Just want to let you know today that you're not inconveniencing God when you ask him for forgiveness. You're not a bother, you're not pest, you're not annoying God. You're just asking him what he already desires to do. God is forgiveness and grace. The next time you wonder if you've messed up one too many times to be forgiven by God, just know the grace that God lavishes is in unending supply.

Whatever you have ahead of you right now that might be worrying you, I want you to remember this: God's word is a light to our feet and a lamp to our path. When we spend time in God's word, we come to know him more. We see his light more. A Lamp doesn't provide us with miles worth of light, but it gives you just enough light to know where to step next. Focus on God, trust him to guide your steps.
