Can I ask you a tough question? If you had to guess how many times a day do you talk down to yourself? I know firsthand what takes place during my meeting with the mirror. If I’m honest, it’s rarely pretty.I came across a new poll that  found the average person does so more than three times a day.  That includes both insulting things you say, and insulting thoughts.  Even if you don’t say it, it still counts. Unfortunately, women do it more than men.  The average guy insults himself three times a day, nearly 1,100 times a year but for women, that number is four times a day, which is almost 1,500 times a year.Friend, whether you believe it to be true or not, you are perfectly and wonderfully made. God’s love for you is constant because He is constant. Let’s remember that during our next meeting with the mirror.-Sonny

I have a cousin who was a prisoner to drugs, but today, she’s thankful for her scars. I remember when I saw this cousin in person after she had started using, it just broke my heart. Drugs had ravaged her body: Her eyes were sunken, she was missing teeth, she had lost weight, and just about everyone in her life had turned their backs on her. But God never did… Instead, he used our Aunties as prayer warriors on her behalf. Day after day, they continued lifting her up in prayer and let her know she wasn’t fighting alone. Then it happened. She gave her addiction to God and asked Jesus back into her life. Nowadays she’s not only clean, she’s thriving! She’s managing a company and better yet, she’s now helping other women who were in her position to break those same chains of addiction. Please never stop praying for that person in your life, friend. God is able. -Sonny

When I was a boy growing up, all I wanted to be was a professional football player, but God had other plans. For Khari Willis, that dream became a reality. But God still had other plans and Khari is answering that call!

If you're anything like me, then you may have said that this at some point: "Gosh, I wish I could pray like THAT!" There is probably someone you know who just has these beautiful, eloquent prayers. Someone who doesn't stumble over their words or get nervous when asked to pray. A quick shout out to you if when a light turns green and the car in front of you doesn’t move, you blow the horn.This morning on my way to work, I was about to turn at a green light but I noticed the car in the left lane stopped abruptly, the car behind it slammed on its brakes and starts blowing its horn, the cars behind them followed suit. Then an SUV rips through the intersection from our left a good 3 seconds after the light turned green.Thankful God sees the bigger picture.

I was also supposed to be her co-host on her upcoming television show, and I was making the most money in my life! On the outside, life looked perfect, but I was miserable! Imagine you are a bottle. Are you filled with soda or water? What's inside is your emotions and reactions. Some people may try to shake and rattle your "bottle" from time to time and if you're filled with emotions like soda you will explode! But if they shake your "bottle" filled with water, self assurance and peace, no matter how hard they try, your response will be calm like still water. Remember friend, no one can "make you mad" unless you give them that power. May His peace be with you.

As pool season begins throughout North Texas, here’s something for parents with young children.When shopping for suits this year think BRIGHT yellows, reds, pinks, and neons! Where black, green and blues will disappear in the water, bright colors stand out. In fact one mom posted, “thank you! My 2 year old wore neon orange to swim class and ran and jumped into the deep end while I was grabbing a pool chair. When I turned to look for him, he was gone and all I could see was his orange suit 3 feet under water. Thank God we pulled him out quickly, and besides some choking on the water, he was okay. I don’t know if I would have seen him so quickly in a regular color.” And remember no life jacket, flotation device, # of swim lessons, type of lesson, or color of suit should ever replace adult supervision of children around water. All of us probably have that person you know that constantly has their social media boxing gloves on just ready for an argument. One of my friends fits that bill, but he shared something that hit differently this morning. He posted: "My son and his friends were caught in an undertow at the beach this weekend, his friend could not swim at all so Eric took it upon himself to try to save this kid's life, he told me "Dad, I never knew how hard it is for these lifeguards or anyone to save someone that can't swim, I had him trying to pull him by his shoulders and neck and he fought me and then he was pushing me underwater to try to get above and he was forcing me down and then I couldn't breathe" he then said out of nowhere they were both lifted out of the water, and when he looked up there was no one there. Sometimes we try to speak life when we have friends who are hurting but despite our best intentions, we can actually end up doing more harm than good with our words. Our words matter. So, you go to the gas station and do what? Do you sit there, and your car is magically filled with gas? Not unless you live in New Jersey where they pump your gas for you, no you’re a North Texan! You get out, open your gas cap, and fill your car up! The same way you get filled with God. You don’t just sit there; you open your heart, ask for forgiveness, and accept Him as your Lord and Savior. You stop trusting in yourself and you trust Him to help in your life. And here's the best news: the price of God's fuel is free.

That’s where I used to broadcast to for 13 years. My cousin’s boyfriend was heading there to that very shop but stopped to help someone else.
