Synopsis

Mom life: were surrounded with the message that its the tired life, the no-time-for-myself life, the HARD life. And while it is hard and full of lots of servitude, the idea that motherhood means a joy-less life is something Im passionate about putting a stop to. Im on a mission to help you stop counting down the minutes till bedtime (at least most days). I want you to stop cleaning up after your kids childhood, and start being present for it - start enjoying it. I believe in John 10:10, that we are called to abundant life, and I know mothers are NOT excluded from that promise. Join me in conversations about simplicity, minimalism, and lots of other good stuff that leads to a life of less for the sake of enjoying more in motherhood. Im Allie Casazza, and this is The Purpose Show.

For our family, we take it year by year when it comes to whether we homeschool our kids or send them to public school. And I get asked a lot about how we handle the transitions. It is such an adjustment for everyone. Sometimes the adjustment is easy + other times it is a little more challenging. • EP 24: Phone Settings For A Present Life

    21/03/2018 Duration: 32min

I absolutely love technology. I have a business that is ran through technology. I can capture memories with my family through the camera on my phone. I can connect with people all around the world whenever I want. But it can get out of hand. It can become a distraction from what really matters and from what is actually going on. Our phones are playing a huge role in absent-minded motherhood (you know, where you get lost in the scrolling on Instagram and Facebook instead of playing with your kids). There are so many excuses to not be paying much attention to what’s going on around us in real life. The phone is a distraction from real life, plain and simple. And we are raising a generation that will joke around about whose mom was staring at the square in her hand more often. That’s not what I want. I know it’s not what you want either. I want to empower you when it comes to setting boundaries with your phone so you can live a present life. You are the only one that can make this choice. You can make the choic

  • Ep 023: Tips for When Your Kids Are Sharing A Room

    19/03/2018 Duration: 25min

Our family has gone through all kinds of seasons when it comes to room sharing. From putting all the boys together to turning our master bedroom into a room shared with 4 kids … we experienced it all! Room sharing fosters closeness. And you will find joy in watching them grow closer. One of my favorite things is listening to the kids giggle every night before bed. No matter how much they bickered during the day, they come together at the end of the day for bedtime. Sure, there are some challenges with room sharing! But I hope this episode helps you get creative with those challenges. The goal is to make your life simpler and easier, and to find what works for you! • Ep 022: Working with My Husband: Lessons Learned & Q+A

    14/03/2018 Duration: 32min

Running a business with your spouse is like an amped up version of being married. You are together all the time. You are having business meetings together, eating 3 meals a day together, watching the kids together, planning new content together. You do all of it together. And when you are used to being on your own it is weird to, all of the sudden, be doing it together. We are getting ready to celebrate 2 years since Brian quit his 9 to 5 job and have learned a few things. But my favorite part is that I get to run my passion project with my best friend. I don’t have to “fill him in” on things because he is here doing it with me. Maybe you + your husband work together. Maybe you guys are thinking about it. Or maybe you’re just curious about we do it! Whatever the reason, I hope that you find some encouragement in this episode. • Ep 021: Food, Exercise & Perfectionism (feat. Robin Long)

    12/03/2018 Duration: 43min

Robin Long is the founder of The Balanced Life, which started as an online platform for her to teach Pilates but has grown to much more than that. She is a well of wisdom when it comes to living in the balance of food + exercise. We often get into the mindset that “exercise equals all of these hard things, so I can’t exercise” or “well, if I licked a donut, then I might as well just eat burgers, fries and a milkshake for lunch, and also have pizza for dinner, and two beers.” But it doesn’t have to be that way. Having exercise fit into your life is the key to actually getting something done and making progress. My goal for this episode is to get you to actually do something. Anyone can listen, get inspired, and think they are going to do that. But I really want you to do it! Disclaimer: In this episode, we discuss some things that you may not want your kids to hear, especially if you have a little girl who might be receptive to some of the things we are discussing. I encourage you to pop those headphones in a

  • BONUS 01: All About Our Home School

    09/03/2018 Duration: 19min

Surprise! Today is the very first episode of bonus episodes I will be sharing!  Every rare once-in-a-while, I will put out a Bonus Episode that was just too good to wait. Or it could be a message that I really had on my heart for you guys. In this episode, I am sharing all about homeschooling - how it works for us, the curriculum we are using, our typical schedule, and what I think about it. I know it is really helpful to see how other people do things, so I hope this episode helps you, encourages you, and maybe even inspires you to think outside of the box. • Ep 020: Balance & Simplicity For the Busy Family

    07/03/2018 Duration: 29min

Being busy is either a badge of honor or something that is seen as really negative in our culture today. Like if you don’t have a ton of whitespace on your calendar you are focused on the wrong things and you are too busy to really enjoy your life. Or some people won’t even say the word busy or I hear them say they don’t really like the word busy. I think that both ends of the spectrum and both views are pretty incorrect. I think there is a middle ground. The key is finding systems and rhythms that will help you in whatever place you are at and whatever season you are in. It is finding balance and simplifying your rhythms so you can enjoy the people in your home and run your life well so that it’s not running you! • Ep 019: 5 Things That Are Hard to Declutter (and How to Handle It)

    05/03/2018 Duration: 32min

You know the items you have laying around taking up space, but are too sentimental to throw away? Or the boxes full of toys your kids don’t play with anymore? What about the mountains of paperwork that are too important to get rid of? And the never ending rack of clothes that you don’t wear, or wear that often? Oh, and don’t get me started on the piles of stuff husbands leave around the house! If you find yourself glaring at any (or all!) of those things, then this episode is for you. I am talking about the 5 Things That Are hard to Declutter. We all have those areas in our life + I am here to walk you through how to declutter them. Clutter takes up time, so let’s declutter so we can have more time! Everything I talk about in this episode can be found here: http://alliecasazza.com/shownotes/019 Learn more about your ad choices. • Ep 018: Prioritizing Sex in Your Marriage w/ Sheila Wray Gregoire

    28/02/2018 Duration: 28min

As busy mom’s, we are in the hardest season when it comes to sex. We are exhausted majority of the time, we don’t feel sexy because things are leaking, we are being pulled on all day, and if we are being honest, sex isn’t our priority. We want it, but our bodies are too tired to do it. But sex isn’t just going to happen if we are waiting for it to happen. It has to be something that we start looking forward to. We need to have a different attitude and tell our bodies what to feel instead of waiting for our bodies to feel something.   In this episode, I am excited to sit down with Sheila Wray Gregoire to discuss Prioritizing Sex In Your Marriage. This episode is not light + it is not for tiny ears. We are talking about a lot of adult and marriage things. So, pop your headphones in and enjoy this episode alone! • Ep 017: It's Okay to Change Your Mind!

    26/02/2018 Duration: 19min

There’s this perfectionism that Pinterest and Instagram have brought into our society. And from that, there is this idea that if you change your mind, it looks like you are a mess. But, life is so crazy. Things are so stressful. Things change and flow all of the time. Seasons ebb and flow which means how you operate in those seasons sometimes changes. It is about saying “no” to what isn’t working and saying “yes” to what is. Do what works for you. Pursue what your version of less and your version of joy is in this season. It’s OK to change your mind! Everything I talk about in this episode can be found here: http://alliecasazza.com/shownotes/017 Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

    21/02/2018 Duration: 24min

  • Ep 015: Prioritizing Date Night No Matter the Season You're In (feat. Brian Casazza)

    19/02/2018 Duration: 17min

Although Prioritizing Date Night seems like an episode that might be helpful before Valentine’s Day, I purposely waited until after because I believe date night is all of the time.  It shouldn’t be something that is focused on once a year. Date night is an investment. And what you choose to invest in is important. Being busy, having kids, and not being able to get away are not excuses. Choose to prioritize date night with your spouse - it is worth it! Everything I talk about in this episode can be found here: http://alliecasazza.com/shownotes/015 Learn more about your ad choices. • Ep 013: Hair & Makeup Tips From A Pro ft. Jaime McLaughlin

    12/02/2018 Duration: 36min

As moms, specifically SAHM moms, are we doing full hair & makeup every single day?  No, not necessarily.  But we can get in better rhythms and habits and make ourselves our priority.  Because if we are making ourselves a priority and making ourselves up a little bit, we will feel better about ourselves. It may seem a bit silly talking about hair and makeup for yourself.  But it makes a huge difference throughout the decisions in the rest of your day when you start your day off feeling good about yourself. Jaime McLaughlin is a hair + makeup professional who runs themachouseblog.com. She is also a mom to 4 little ones, so her life is quite busy! She has mastered how to simplify your hair + makeup routine as a busy mom. She is a well of wisdom in this area. And she is amazing, lovely, and so skilled! You are in for a treat this episode! • Ep 012: Cultivating Friendship in Your Marriage feat. Brian Casazza

    07/02/2018 Duration: 25min

Allie is joined by her husband, Brian to discuss Cultivating Friendship in Your Marriage. Any couple can cultivate a friendship with a little work. Marriage is already work, so why not focus on working to be friends with your spouse. How do friends act? What do they do for each other? How are they with each other?  They go out for coffee. They talk about their day with one another. They intentionally spend time together in order to learn more about each other. If you are like this with a friend, why should you marriage be any different? That is your best friend! Allie + Brian get it. Life happens. Things happen. When you have friendship in your marriage, it is such a great “fall back” to know you have your best friend by your side for the worst situations, scariest nights, and stressful days.   Everything I talk about in this episode can be found here: http://alliecasazza.com/shownotes/012 Learn more about your ad choices. • Ep 011: Taking Care of Yourself

    05/02/2018 Duration: 20min

Taking Care of Yourself is talked about a lot in our culture today, but I don’t think we are truly taking action on it. I think it is hard for us to do that. We are taking care of so many other people all the time that we forget that we matter. Our tanks get low, close to empty. We get snarky, cranky, fussy. It’s because your well is empty. You can not pull up fresh, hydrating water that your family needs from you if that well is bone dry. You have to take care of yourself and restore yourself. Instead of always working on yourself in a way that has you focusing on your flaws and mistakes and what you need to change or be better at, shift your focus to what you are good at. In focusing on that, you will discover who you are and what restores your energy. Once you know those things, you can compile a list of ways that you can begin taking care of yourself. Need help forming that list? I got you! You can download my Self-Care Ideas for Busy Moms for FREE! Everything I talk about in this episode can be found

  • Ep 010: How to Be An Action-Taking, Problem-Solving Mom

    31/01/2018 Duration: 18min

Being an Action Taking Problem Solving mom is about identifying the problems and taking action on them. It is writing out the issues and finding solutions for them.   Louise Hay says, “I do not fix my problems. I fix my thinking, then my problems fix themselves.” When something is a problem in my life and I notice it is consistently a problem, I won’t just leave it. I won’t just wish that it would change or put it in the back of my head to figure it out later.  I will take action on it. Write it out and problem-solve. You have so much power as a mom. You can choose to change your thinking.  Fix your thinking. Change your mindset. Get into a place of positivity. Of being an action-taking, problem-solving mom and a lot of things are going to shift.   Everything I talk about in this episode can be found here: http://alliecasazza.com/shownotes/010 Learn more about your ad choices. • EP 009: How We Keep Intimacy Alive & Well with 1,000 Kids (feat. Brian Casazza)

    29/01/2018 Duration: 19min

In this episode, Brian joins Allie to talk about how they remain so close and keep intimacy alive, even with one thousand children. With February, the month of love, right around the corner, the topic will largely circle around love, intimacy and marriage. However, this particular episode comes from the many questions Allie receives from her followers. People often ask how Allie and Brian remain to be so close and connected. The biggest thing to remember is that in order to feel close and connected to your significant other, you have to stop putting your intimacy on the back burner, putting it off until after you care for your kids. You need to keep the fire burning all day long, so that when night arrives, you’re happy to spend time together. (We’ll be discussing grown-up things in this episode, so be sure to pop your headphones in to listen.) 22/01/2018 Duration: 11min

Creating a family mission statement is a really great way to lay the foundation for what your purpose is as a family. It outlines the things you stand for and things you don’t. A family mission statement is exactly what it sounds like, an intentional statement that you make together with your family. It encapsulates your priorities and your goals as a family.
