When I get asked who is the best hunter/angler/outdoorsman I have ever met in my years of promoting the outdoors, my friend Joe Champion is always on the top of that list. Joe Champion worked at Portland for Hammermill for 50 years managing wildlife & timber. He guided and hunted with some of the top names in the hunting, sports  and entertainment industry. He talks about his tenure at Portland and why he thinks it is one of the best hunting destinations in the nation. Joe Allen catches us up with all the fishing and hunting updates on the TCNB Alabama River/Lake Millers Ferry Report for the weekend. The CNB Weather Report is another hot one. Alabama Special Opportunity Areas (SOAs) deer/dove hunt registration begins August 19th 2019. SOAs are Alabama public hunt properties that are smaller than WMAs and are formatted for limited quota (random draw) hunting to reduce pressure and increase not only the quality of the hunt but also helps area biologist better manage the resource. During the 2019/20 Alabama hunting season, six SOAs offer limited number of slots for hunters (and guest) who are drawn to deer, dove, waterfowl, small game & turkey hunt. Alabama Catfish Series Tournament Director & founder Marshall Hughey talks to BDL about the logistics, rules and future of the Alabama Catfish Series Tournament Trail. ACS will be in Lake Millers Ferry (RCSP) this weekend (07/20 - 07/21/19) for a night tournament. Marshall talks about how the Alabama River compares to other catfish lakes in the southeast. Although catfish are not considered "sport fish" these catfish tournaments are beginning to draw some impressive numbers and anglers are beginning to catch on to this fast growing competition fishing. Herpetologist Jay Eubanks talks to BDL about overcoming your fear of snakes. Jay has a very unique way of explaining and educating you about how to understand the value of our Alabama snakes. Jay tells us about most of our non-venomous snakes and all of the venomous ones. The goal for this podcast is to get just one person to understand snakes and hopefully save a few in the process. BDL talks former B.A.S.S. Tournament director Dewey Kendrick. Dewey worked the big stage for 20 years before retiring in 2004. Dewey shares his experiences with B.A.S.S. and how it became premier bass tournament trial in the nation.
