In this episode, we had the great privilege of interviewing Patriarch Mourik, an ordained Patriarch in the LDS Church! Patriarchs are ordained to give patriarchal blessings to the people in their region. Brother Mourik has been a patriarch for a very long time and has absolutely loved the spiritual connection he feels giving blessings from God to His children.   Patriarch Mourik is a convert to the church, which he talks about in this video. He's had remarkable experiences that have helped him grow in the Church.   In the Mormon Church, we believe that through the priesthood authority (the power of God on the earth to do His work) we can bless people. While blessings are given frequently, patriarchal blessings are typically given by someone who is ordained as a Patriarch and who has the power to declare lineage and give guidance for the lives of those receiving the blessing.

Before filming this episode for Saints Unscripted (formerly known as 3 Mormons), we were sure it would only be like 5 minutes long since we were positive we agreed on every misconception about taking the Sacrament in the Church of Jesus Christ. But boy were we wrong!   In this episode, David, Justin, and Kwaku address a few different questions or misconceptions about the Sacrament. A few of the questions include:   --If I didn’t hear the prayer, can/should I still take the sacrament?   --If I go to more than one ward in a day, should I take the Sacrament in both wards?   --I don’t feel worthy to take the sacrament but I know it will help me be clean. Should I take it?   --Do I need to take the Sacrament with my right hand?   --Should children be encouraged to take the Sacrament?   --Do I sustain people in a Sacrament meeting in a ward that isn’t mine?

WIRED has done a series of videos in which they have celebrities respond to top Google searches using autocomplete. We decided to look up some top searches about Mormons and respond accordingly:) None of the hosts were told the questions beforehand so these are their raw reactions!   Some of the questions include:  -Why are Mormons a cult?  -Why are Mormons baptized for the dead?  -Why are Mormons not allowed to drink coffee?  etc!!

Being a recent convert in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (otherwise known as the Mormon Church) isn't easy. Many people struggling with fitting in, feeling comfortable, and even question why they joined in the first place.   Well friends, we're here to chat about your conversion. Kwaku first mentions that it's likely especially difficult for people who have never been religious in their life and then join Mormonism since they're suddenly expected to attend regularly, participate in different function, contribute time and talents, etc. It's a big change from being non-religious to joining a religion with so many expectations.  But in the end, Kwaku and David talk about the importance of joining for the right reasons and then remembering why you joined in the first place. Don't think so much about the culture of the Church, the incorrect doctrines some people might say, etc. Think about the spirit you felt when you joined. Keep reading the Book of Mormon and saying your prayers.

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (otherwise known as LDS or Mormon) sometimes disagree with one another. And not only about politics. Oftentimes, there is a disagreement in how scripture is interpreted or even how some doctrine is translated. Does that mean that one member is right and the other is wrong? Not always.   Kwaku mentions that scriptures and other doctrines might mean something different to you as time goes on. You might glean different bits of information from the same scripture as you go throughout your life. And that's okay.   Mimi asks if it's okay to disagree with the prophet, among questioning other things. David responds that as long as there is a basic belief of fundamental doctrine, we can seek revelation from God to know how to interpret what the prophet says and how it can apply to us and help us to grow.

Hey! Did you notice the new face on 3 Mormons? His name is Justin and is a good friend of Kwaku. He joined Kwaku today to talk about something of deep importance to the Mormon religion.  Years ago, the LDS Church released a document called The Living Christ. The document is an inspired piece written by our beloved prophets and apostles in the Mormon Church. The document talks about the importance of Jesus Christ and expresses our deep reverence and love for him. We encourage everyone to read the document thoroughly. 

Ian's wife, Sienna, came to talk about Mormon marriages and what it means to be get married in a Mormon temple. Ian and Sienna first talk about their marriage in the temple, being sealed for time and all eternity, making a covenant with God. A covenant, they explain, is a promise. The promise made in the temple is between God and the spouses. They talk about LDS temple sealings and how it's possible for us to be with our families throughout the eternities, even after death.  This is one of the most beautiful, wonderful teachings in Mormonism and we're very excited to share with each of you.  We hope you all enjoy! We encourage those of you who are wondering what the inside of a temple looks like to visit an open house of a temple. Every time a temple is built, the church holds an open house for those we are wanting to see the outside, inside, and everything else.

In this episode, we welcome back the infamous Stephen Smoot, the most prolific Star Wars fan in the galaxy (if you disagree, let us know in the comments below). With the newest episode of Star Wars coming out soon, we had an important question: is Star Wars connected to Mormonism? Is the force connected to the priesthood?  And ultimately, why in the world do Mormons like Star Wars so much? While Kwaku may not understand, Stephen and Ian make some pretty good points about Star Wars and Mormonism. 

Mormon underwear is frequently asked about and oftentimes criticized. Mormons call their underwear "garments" but the rest of the world might say things like "magic Mormon underwear" or other terms that are sometimes hilarious. However, Mormons regard their underwear to be sacred due to what they represent. Mormon garments represent the covenants that members of the Church have made with God. The LDS garment is often considered a symbol of an inner commitment to God.  If you have ever wondered why Mormons wear garments then this is the episode for you. Kwaku talks about the importance of garments and so forth. 

Kwaku and Ian are back and today we talk about the significance of Jesus Christ and what it means for us today. For Mormons, Jesus Christ is central in all that we do. We believe that through the Savior's atonement we can be forgiven of our sins. We believe that everyone can come to know the Savior and the power of His atonement in each individual life.

Today we talk to a member of the church who, at one point in his life, was an ex-mormon. Dusty Smith shares his story of why he left and what caused him to come back to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and be re-baptized.  Dusty Smith, a lawyer from Texas, starts the show by talking about his early days of being a member of the church. When a close friend's child passed away, he questioned God's existence. How could God just let something like that happen?  Soon, Dusty became very effective in disproving certain aspects of church history. Through his endeavors to disprove the church, he met someone who would get into very heated debates about the validity of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with him. But the two soon became friends, despite their differences.  Through a series of events and miracles Dusty soon came to believe that the Church was true.
