Spotify Makes changes with New Pay for Influence Discovery Mode that has become a controversial issue. ‘Discovery Mode’ works by letting a label or artist identify a track that they want prioritized, with that track then played in listeners’ personalized Auto play or Radio feeds. By opting in, they agree to being paid a lower recording royalty rate for streams in those personalized sessions (in Radio and Autoplay). If they opt out or a song doesn't perform well, Spotify will remove it immediately from discovery and not give that track a chance to recover or be discovered. An announcement suggesting that artists can choose to be paid less per stream for their tracks to be played in personalized feeds couldn’t have come at a worse time for SPOT in terms of its reputation amongst the wider artist community. Ticketmaster Releases ‘Social Distance Seating Tool’ for Venues. Ticketmaster has rolled out a series of ‘SmartEvent’ tech solutions, including a ‘social distance seating tool,’ designed to help venues safely welcome back audiences and ‘enhance the overall fan experience.’ Is this what our Concert experience will look like in 2021? I think so. This comes at a great time as the colder weather approaches, countries are locking down again. People will need some way to safely gather. Let’s hope this works. TikTok Signs Agreement with Sony to access massive music catalogue. TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube … The list is overwhelming when it comes to choosing a social media page especially when things keep changing so dramatically every week. One day, TikTok is huge, the next day we seen they may be banned in the US. Instagram used to have an amazing reach, then facebook bought them and our reach disappeared. Facebook pages used to be the thing, then it was groups and just a few months later, all organic traffic is blocked.
