  • Last One Picked - Matthew | with Andrew Kim

    28/08/2019 Duration: 45min

#WeekendsAtKensington Matthew was not liked – not liked at all. Tax collectors enriched themselves by praying on impoverished people, stifling trade and operating as what amounted to a local mafia. To make matters worse, they were despised for collaborating with the foreign power that had subjected their own people to bondage. Can you imagine what the other disciples thought when Jesus approached them and said, “Hey, this is Matthew. I’m sure you know him as the tax collector. He’s going to be joining us.” I’m sure there were some concerns. So, when it comes to God picking his team, does your past choices, lifestyle or even beliefs disqualify you? Or, is the grace of Christ powerful enough to transform those who turn to Jesus in faith and start to follow him? *** Join Kensington church here: http://kensingtonchurch.org Follow us on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/kensingtonchurch Catch us on Twitter: http://www.twitter.kensingtoncc

  • Last One Picked - Gideon | with Cody Wilson

    19/08/2019 Duration: 41min

#WeekendsAtKensington Moses was not looking for public office. He had been living as a fugitive from the law for 40 years after killing someone in Egypt, and he was in no hurry to return and face the music. He was not only wracked with guilt and fear, but he also had developed a speech impediment. He was ridiculously unqualified. And yet, God saw something in Moses that no one else saw. God saw the man that was going to lead an entire nation out of slavery and into freedom. Moses saw his failures and weaknesses as things that disqualified him from serving God, and yet God saw his background and weaknesses as part of Moses’ preparation to be one of the greatest leaders in human history. God loves to press into our deepest wounds and insecurities only to use them to transform us and give us a new identity. *** Join Kensington church here: http://kensingtonchurch.org Follow us on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/kensingtonchurch Catch us on Twitter: http://www.twitter.kensingtoncc

    01/07/2019 Duration: 33min

Download the study guide: https://kensingtonchurch.page.link/do-something-beautiful When you have an experience with something that is unusual, something that is other-worldly, the natural response is to be amazed, to wonder, to question. True wonder can turn into life-long joy when we properly respond to the extraordinary! The life of Jesus was filled with ordinary moments that turned extraordinary. Like flickering field of magical light, Jesus turned ordinary things into extraordinary things from food and water, to fish and trees and ultimately people. Jesus took ordinary people and made them extraordinary Jesus wasn’t gathering interns for a profession or career in an industry, he was gathering interns for the extraordinary story of God-this is our ultimate purpose in life, to pattern ourselves after Jesus Christ, the master of life itself. • Bringing Down The House - Heroes (Father's Day) | with Jeremiah Roy

    17/06/2019 Duration: 35min

Download the study guide: https://kensingtonchurch.page.link/BringDownTheHouse Not all heroes wear capes so we just need to dance like yo daddy. Don’t worry, that will all make sense on the 16th. This is a great weekend to celebrate all of the dads in our community. We will also talk about the topic of approval. “When I grow up, I want to be just like you…” Most of us remember that emotion as a young child and those of us who are parents know the desire to feel approval from our kids. The desire for approval is a powerful internal driver that can both help and hurt our relationships. Over time, we can feel crushed by the act of striving to be loved, to be respected, and to be the hero we want to be for our family. Our worth, value, and significance can be wrapped up in our performance, which causes pain for those in our lives that matter the most. During this message, we’ll discover what lies at the core of the distance and disappointment in our family relationships and how to move to a healthier

  • Bringing Down The House - Real & Ideal | with Dave Wilson

    11/06/2019 Duration: 44min

Download the study guide: https://kensingtonchurch.page.link/BringDownTheHouse All of us have a view of what the “perfect” family should look like, though none of us grew up in a perfect family. No matter how much you loved your family, you experienced part of their brokenness and experienced brokenness yourself. The temptation for us is to either hold God’s standard for family or diminish it to match our current reality. It’s easy to adjust the standard to make us feel better about our relationship with our spouse, our kids, our in-laws, and our own parents. The problem is that we are designed to hold the ideal and what’s real in tension rather than aligning them to a lower standard. *** Join Kensington church here: http://kensingtonchurch.org Follow us on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/kensingtonchurch Catch us on Twitter: http://www.twitter.kensingtoncc

  • Heart Matters - My Heart | with Cody Wilson

    30/04/2019 Duration: 45min

Why does our mind (intellect) lose to our heart (experience) so often? How often has our knowledge about God been contradicted by our experience with God? For many people, there is a strong separation between the two, and it has led to struggles and frustrations… What if it was never meant to be that way? What if there is a way to fix this? In Peter's journey of following Jesus, we see evidence of a man whose heart and mind were at war with each other. Peter had incredible moments in which he stated beautiful nuggets of wisdom and insight, but yet his actions oftentimes contradicted his words.
