In our study of John, the public conflict between Jesus and His critics and enemies had been escalating for a long. In John 10:22-42 Jesus seals His death sentence by clearly declaring Himself to be God. Today, it is popular for people to claim that Jesus never declared Himself to be God, but that is the exact opposite of the truth even though it cost Him His life.

Are you suffering? Is there someone you care for who is suffering? Suffering causes us to ask God, “why?”. Why is their sickness and suffering in our world? Why does it hit some people and not others? In John 9, Jesus heals a man blind from birth. But, in addition to physical blindness he also suffered from spiritual blindness which was healed by faith in Jesus as his “Lord” whom he then worshipped. Freedom! Perhaps no word evokes more positive emotion in the typical person than the word “freedom”. But, are we truly free? Free from what? Free to what? In a tense and terse public debate with moral and spiritual people, Jesus offended them by saying they were slaves to sin internally even though they were free externally. How about you? In the Old Testament, God’s people were delivered from slavery in Egypt to freedom by God’s power. To guide them through their wilderness wanderings toward their homeland, God sent a pillar of fire to guide them at night. To follow the light was literally to follow the Lord. To celebrate all of this, the Jewish people celebrated the Feast of Tabernacles. The Temple would be lit up with large candelabras that could be seen from miles around. During this holiday, Jesus stood up and declared Himself to be the light of the world for, “Whoever follows me…” Do you follow Jesus? Are you walking in the light? Are you headed to eternal light or darkness?

Not only is Jesus the most significant person in world history, His family is also the most significant family in world history. Although they had no money, power, or fame they did have the Holy Spirit. Jesus’ aunt, uncle, cousin, parents, and siblings were all filled with the Holy Spirit and fulfilled God’s calling on their life. From the example of Jesus’ family, we learn what it takes to truly have a great family by the Spirit’s power.

The story of the woman caught in adultery is one of the best most and hotly debated sections in all of Scripture. For starters, it is possibly that the story was not originally even part of the Bible. In this weeks sermon, Pastor Mark has his work cut out trying to first explain how we got the Bible and why we can trust it. Then, he will unpack the story of how a woman caught in adultery can be forgiven, loved, and honored by Jesus. A man had been an invalid for thirty-eight years until Jesus healed him. Upset that Jesus healed on the Sabbath and commanded the man to carry his mat, the religious leaders began what became a few years of persecution that culminated at the cross. In the Bible, it is common to require two or three witnesses to establish a fact (e.g. Deut. 19:15). In defending Himself, Jesus brought forth no less than five witnesses that we examine in detail that proved that Jesus is God! - Jesus healed a man crippled for 38 years - Religious upset Jesus A). healed on the Sabbath B). pick up his mat & walk - The man sent the religious leaders to Jesus & they began “persecuting” - Religious spirit – judgmental, unteachable, domineering, non-relational, critic not a coach - 2-3 witnesses (Dt 19:15)

Have you ever felt wrecked, broken, and stuck? One man who had been crippled for thirty-eight years felt the same way. Jesus healed him, and then tells us that one day He will heal all who believe in Him! You too need the hope, help, and healing that only Jesus can give.

With a little boy on his deathbed, his daddy hears that Jesus is traveling nearby and jumps on a horse riding as fast as he can, hoping for a miracle. Frantic, the father begs Jesus to heal his son. Jesus promises that the boy will be healed, and in faith the father heads home to see his boy healed. This is Jesus’ first healing miracle in John’s gospel and in this sermon Pastor Mark answers the most common questions about healing.

In one of the most moving and loving scenes in the whole Bible, Jesus sits down with a rejected and dejected woman. In one conversation, her life changes from miserable to wonderful and God wants to sit down and do the same for you!

This is a face-melting sermon about the repentance of sin, humility in ministry, Kingdom of God as the only alternative to the dumpster fire that is culture, and the wrath of God which is meted out by Jesus Christ as the King of both Heaven and Hell!
