  • #042: Golf Cart Saints [Podcast]

    12/07/2014 Duration: 36min

My goal this week is to talk about the process of sanctification. My good friend Dr. Ben Olson invited me to play golf with him this week and it reminded me how the spiritual life is like golf. Full of frustrations, sand traps, water hazards, and missed putts. We’ll go through what a typical game of golf looks like for me and then relate that to the Catholic doctrine of sanctification. • Video: Eve - Is Woman a Misbegotten Male? (Thomas Aquinas vs. Aristotle)

    08/07/2014 Duration: 16min

This is going to be controversial! Today we look at the classical and medieval understandings of woman as she relates to man. We do so by looking at the Genesis account and along the way we get into some dicey theology. If you’re a rock-ribbed feminist, you may want to stop reading here. Just sayin’. Thomas Aquinas locks horns with Aristotle on this issue of “woman as misbegotten male.” I think you’ll find this video especially interesting and helpful as you engage with others who argue that “The story of Adam and Eve is misogynistic!” You’ll also learn about Thomas Aquinas’ philosophy. As always, I look forward to the comments!!! By the way this video is the last of a series of NSTI videos that we’ve been releasing for the past two weeks from the New Saint Thomas Institute. Alert: TODAY (July 8) is the LAST DAY to sign up for the New Saint Thomas Institute. On Tuesday July 8 at 11:59pm the tuition will go from $37 to $47! • #040: Taylor and Joy Talk About Their Marriage [Podcast]

    25/06/2014 Duration: 47min

Joy and I sit down today to talk about something very personal: our marriage. We talk about how we met and how we married. Thirteen years and seven children later, we talk about the good and the not so good. Our goal is to share with you a realistic picture of Christian marriage and to share just two things that will help you have a peaceful and loving marriage. Marriage is under attack. We all need to work together and give advice and support so that we can have healthy and happy marriages. Marriage is the primary icon of Christ and the Church. So if marriage suffers, we are not rightly depicting the mystery of Christ and human salvation. That’s why we recorded this podcast. This is probably the most important podcast that we’ve ever recorded! If you don’t usually listen to my podcasts, please don’t let this one pass you by. • #038: Should You Budget Time (or Money)? [Podcast]

    04/06/2014 Duration: 43min

My goal this week is to challenge you to reassess how you budget your time. Most people think constantly about their money. How much is in the checking account? How do I get a raise? How to make this money go further? How can I keep a better budget? I applaud that and I think the Bible has very sound advice about being a good steward about money. But the worldview of the Bible holds that time, not money, is your most valuable currency. Today I’m going to show why you should budget your time and give you 3 practical tips on how to do it more efficiently. Click to Listen: Podcast #038: Should You Budget Time (or Money)? My goal this week is to introduce talk about the afterlife. We are in the middle of the octave of Holy Week. We are celebrating the resurrection of Christ from the dead. So today we are going to break it all down.
