South Australian jockey Kerrin McEvoy has again risen to the summit of Australian horse racing winning the 2016 Melbourne Cup with Almandin at Flemington. McEvoy celebrated overnight with his father Phillip McEvoy, trainer Robert Hickmott and mega-rich owner Lloyd Williams at Melbourne Crowne Plaza. His wife Cathy was at home heavily pregnant with their fourth child and is expected to give birth next week, but whilst McEvoy says he was not going to miss the opportunity to race but will use some of the winnings to buy his wife a sparkly ring!

South Australian jockey Kerrin McEvoy has won his second Melbourne Cup racing Almandin celebrating with his father Phillip McEvoy by his side. McEvoy, born in Streaky Bay produced the ride of a champion to navigate $11 chance Almandin to a slugging victory for Lloyd Williams, giving the mega-rich owner a record fifth success. His parents still live in Streaky Bay and father Phil was trackside cheering his son to victory. "I tell you what we were doing some jumping, I lost my glasses I lost everything!!"

The Today Show Aislin Kriukelis joins Jodie & Soda from Dreamworld as police have named the victims of the Thunder River Rapids ride tragedy as Kate Goodchild, 32, her brother Luke Dorsett, his partner Roozi Araghi and a 42-year-old woman who remains unknown. Working throughout the night, police have been combing the CCTV footage for clues as to what led the Thunder River Rapids ride to "malfunction" and cause the horror crash at about 2:20pm Queensland time on Tuesday.

Minister for Recreation, Sport and Tourism Leon Bignell announces fight between Australian Boxers Danny Green and Anthony Mundine to be hosted at Adelaide Oval in February 2017. Bignell says "this will be the biggest fight in Australian history". The event is expected to bring $4.5 million into the South Australian economy.
